A woman who appeared to be high on drugs was filmed hanging and swinging from electrical wires in Vietnam’s Central Highlands before being rescued by local residents and police officers.
The incident happened at Ea Kao Market in the namesake commune in Buon Ma Thuot, the provincial capital of Dak Lak Province, on Thursday morning, a local official confirmed to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
The woman was identified as Nguyen Thi A., a 32-year-old resident in Dak Lak’s Krong Pak District.
A video of the incident, about two and a half minutes long, was uploaded to social media on the same day and attracted a lot of attention.
According to the footage and eyewitnesses, A. was showing signs of being high on crystal meth when she began climbing a utility pole.
The woman then swung and hung from the lines using her arms and legs.
She was not electrocuted as the wires had a plastic cover.
Upon being notified of the incident, police officers arrived at the scene and coordinated with local residents to save her.
They used a large sheet to catch her as she eventually lost her grip due to exhaustion.
A. was unharmed and was later taken to the police station.
Officers have been working with the woman and her family members to figure out why she acted as if she were Tarzan.
