Four people have died and two others remain nowhere to be found after being swept away by strong waves at a beach in the south-central Vietnamese province of Binh Thuan.

Local authorities in Binh Thuan were still exerting their best efforts to search for the missing victims at 10:30 pm on Saturday.

According to preliminary reports, a group of 300 visitors who are employees of a company based in the southern province of Binh Duong arrived at Dat Lanh Resort in La Gi Town at 11:00 am the same day.

Many of the tourists went down to the beach on the afternoon and were swept away by the big waves brought about by bad weather.

Multiple employees of the resort rushed to help but some of them ended up being worn out.

A total of 10 people, including some exhausted rescuers, were eventually brought to safety.

Four other victims, however, had already drowned, while two went missing.
